This was on the way to Yellowstone, so I decided to take a few pictures. As it was everywhere, the water was down, but it was still a beautiful lake.
Through the tunnel......
Half an hour down the road.
I was thinking maybe I should get a campsite before heading
in to Yellowstone, but......
If there are any Longmire fans, Absaroka is the name of
the ( fictitious ) town he is sheriff of. According to my
cousin, it is a county, but not a town.
This was called "chimney rock", if you enlarge it you may
be able to see that the section to the right of the tallest tree
is not attached to the big rock outcropping behind it.
This was a nice lake, decent sized.
Then off in the distance I see more water..... lots of water.
This is the left side
middle
right side
Same lake (I think it was Yellowstone Lake) from a
different side. These guys landed as soon as I pulled
in, and were apparently looking for handouts.
Looking down over the side of the wall I could see this....
zoomed in as much as my camera would....
I took this out the drivers window as I was moving.
The person behind me stopped, and then had to wait
as he lumbered across the road, taking his good ole time.
I did stop to take this one, but kept the car running.
A small geyser. About here it started to rain.
Lightning bolts splitting the sky and thunder
rumbling. I decided to see if I could find lodging
instead of trying to put up my tent in the rain.
I found a hotel..... 80 miles away in Jackson, Wyoming.
Motel 6 was the cheapest place at $109 a night.
My biggest regret was not taking any pictures as I
drove through the Grand Tetons. I planned to drive
back the next day, but just couldn't bring myself to do it.
More pictures tomorrow of my drive to Utah. I'll try
to get caught up!!
