(he's 84) told me chances would be slim, but it was a scenic area.
Before getting there, I passed through Buffalo Gap National Grasslands.
I spotted this sign and decided it was time to move on.
Sheep Mountain Table Road was about 8 miles away,
so I headed west.
The campground owner knew exactly where this was,
and said this pic would make a nice poster for on the
wall. If I can find somewhere within 20 miles that can
make it, I'll let a present for him when I leave.
I was taking this picture directly in to the sun, so I
couldn't really see what was on the view screen.
When I checked the pic, I noticed something in the
upper right corner so I took another zoomed in at that
spot.
The owner and his son both said it was an eagle, but
the owners wife said a hawk. The argument was on!!
As I was leaving Sheep Table, I saw this directly across the road.
About a mile further I spotted these.
I headed in to "Wall" South Dakota, to see what the
big fuss was all about with "Wall Drug"
I made it about 4 blocks, stopped and took this picture
and headed back to the car. I could tell there was nothing
I wanted to see.
From here I headed to Sage Rim Creek Road.
A direct shot back to where I started.
Decided to stop at Prairie Homestead Historic Site since
it was on the way.
One of the only "sod houses" still standing in the U.S.
The man that moved here during the homestead act
was born in 1854, 100 years before me. The house was
built, I believe in 1906.
The addition on the right was an abandoned trappers hut
that the owner moved and added to the side of his house.
He now had a room with a roof that didn't leak.
This was the left wall as you entered.
Behind the kitchen/dining area was the bedroom.
The addition that was added looking in the front.
Jim, I thought this would be a good addition for your
family butchering day.
This little fella was starved for attention. He loved having
his head scratched.
That wraps up day 2 in the Badlands area. I'm off for a
late lunch (it's mountain time here) and then back to see
if I can get all of yesterdays adventures added.
